Art Clay Silver Paper Type Plus 35 gram

  • Description

Art Clay Silver Paper Type Plus 35 gram. This thick variant is an addition if you already work a lot with paperclay and you are looking for a somewhat more robust appearance.

Art Clay Silver Paper Type Plus, weighing 35 grams is a precious metal material that transforms into pure silver (99.9%) after firing. This 35-gram variant is 2.5 times thicker than the standard version (0.6 mm thick) and can be used for creating small, thin charms such as leaves, as well as for crafting thicker settings. It can be folded, bent, punched, or cut with scissors or a punch, much like working with paper. The sheet is flexible and easy to fold; techniques from origami, paper, fabric, and leatherworking are applicable.

Forming Phase

  • Create shapes by folding, bending, or cutting. Keep in mind a shrinkage of up to 10% in length after firing.
  • Do not add extra moisture to the surface. The material remains soft and workable without moisture. Too much moisture makes the paper type clay flimsy and reduces its structure.
  • If a crack occurs, it can only be repaired after firing using Art Clay Silver Paste Type. Do not use this paste in the forming phase.
  • No drying time is needed if no paste is added. Do not use a hairdryer or other devices to dry the piece, as this can damage the binder or cause burning.
  • Fixings can be made with Art Clay Silver Paste or spray clay, but ensure the piece dries for at least 24 hours at room temperature. Do not use a hairdryer or oven for this.

Firing

The pieces must be fired in a special kiln. Place the piece in a cold oven and gradually increase the temperature to 800 or 850°C. Fire for 30 minutes at 800°C or 20 minutes at 850°C. The pieces can be removed from the oven while still hot. Ensure proper ventilation in the workspace.

  • For three-dimensional designs, it is recommended to use supportive material such as a fiber blanket. Make sure this blanket is not wrapped too tightly, as this can affect shrinkage and cause breakage.
  • Do not touch the piece with bare hands after firing; allow it to cool completely.
  • Avoid bending or applying excessive pressure to the fired piece, as it may break.
  • Use Art Clay Silver Paste Type to repair any cracks.

Finishing Phase

After firing, the piece will have a matte, white appearance. Use a polishing brush for a matte finish or polishing sponges, an agate pen, or polishing needles to achieve a shiny result. Yellow stains from the fiber material will disappear with polishing.

Important Tips

  • Add as little moisture as possible during work. Use sharp tools for precision work.
  • Work in a dry environment with clean, dry hands.

Storage

Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, and avoid high temperatures (above 50°C) or high humidity (>80%). Keep unused pieces in the original packaging; additional plastic or airtight packaging is not necessary. Keep away from children.

Reuse of Paper Type

  • Leftover Paper Type cannot be reformed into clay or returned to its original shape by adding water. The recycled material may crack during firing.
  • Use leftovers to create small decorations using a punch or make paste (the adhesion and strength will be slightly weaker than Art Clay Silver Paste Type).
  • Do not mix Paper Type with other products from the Art Clay Silver series due to differences in binders.

Available Packaging

  • 10, 15, and 35-gram paper type clay.
