Anneal the thread before winding.
As an example: Take a wire of eg 0.3mm and 1.2m long, bend it into two equal parts. Clip the ends to a nail or by wrapping the ends around the tip of a pair of tweezers and have someone hold the tweezers. Attach the other end of the wire to the hook and now turn the handle in a constant motion. Make sure to keep the thread taut and twist until you have a spiral of the same size. Loosen the thread and let it spin back and the thread is ready to use.
