Art Clay Silver Zilverklei Spuitklei 10 gram is made from 99.9% pure silver, also known as fine silver. This spray clay does not include a nozzle, but the nozzle can be purchased separately or you can reuse the nozzle from your old spray can. The 10 grams without a nozzle is often sold as a refill. You can transfer the nozzle onto the new 10-gram spray can without having to empty it first. If your syringe is empty, transfer the full nozzle onto a new seringe to prevent any clay from being wasted.
The spray clay is ideal for creating hollow forms, lines, and decorations. It is also highly suitable for securing findings or making repairs. It is often used for creating hollow shapes when used with wood clay as a base. It is also perfect for quickly setting stones. You can spray a small ball of clay the size of the stone, press the zirconia directly into the ball, and press it firmly so that the edges of the stone are securely set into the clay. Additionally, spray clay can be used for repairing damage, such as deeper cracks.
Usage with Wood Clay
When using the spray clay with wood clay, ensure that the wood clay is completely dry. Wood clay burns during the firing process, leaving behind the hollow structure of the spray clay. This can create a beautiful effect, but keep in mind that the wood clay itself is not heat-resistant during the firing process.
Drying Phase and Usage
The clay dries in the air, so be mindful of this during your work. Make sure that the tip of your spray nozzle does not dry out. To prevent this, place the spray can in a water container or glass with distilled water when not in use. When ready to spray, dry the nozzle, hold it slightly above the work surface, and spray to form the shape you need.
Shrinkage and Firing
The spray clay shrinks approximately 9% during firing. The clay can be heated from 650°C, which means it can be fired using a gas torch or on a gas stove. The ideal firing temperature is between 800°C and 900°C.
Storage of Spray Clay
You can easily store the spray clay by wrapping it in plastic wrap with the nozzle attached to prevent it from drying out. You can also wrap it with a damp cloth (such as a baby wipe) to keep the moisture regulated, then place it back in the original packaging (remove the instruction sheet). Be sure to seal the packaging tightly with the closure strip.
